OBSERVATORI

Telescopi de 41 cm i cúpula de 3 m de diàmetre |
L'observatori està situat prop de Barcelona (Catalunya, Espanya) i és totalment privat, contruït al llarg dels anys amb recurssos totalment privats. Està integrat dins de la xarxa d'observatoris del Grup d'Estudis Astronòmics (GEA).
INSTRUMENTAL
Està constituït per un telescopi Newton de 41 cm a F/4,5 abrigat per una cúpula, un telescopi Schmidt-Cassegrain de 26 cm a F/6,3 i dos refractors de 8 cm de gran camp, aquests tres darrers instal.lats en sengles terrats al voltant de la cúpula. Les muntures són automàtiques (dues comercials i dues amb el disseny de Mel Bartels portat a terme per en Jaume Moreno) i els telescopis estan controlats a distància des d'una cambra de comandament. A fi i a efecte de rendabilitzar el temps d'observació, són emprats varis o tots els telescopis al mateix temps. Això permet dedicar alguns dels telescopis a programes rutinaris sistemàtics de llarg termini (anys).
Accessoris: cameres CCD i fotòmetres fotoelèctrics. Filtres UBVRI (Johnson i Cousins, Stromgren i de Wing).

CONDICIONS D'OBSERVACIÓ
Observatori urbà amb severa contaminació lumínica. Turbulència mitjana al voltant de 1,5". Nits útils anuals: 130-140, equivalents a unes 3.800 hores d'observació a l'any sumant la producció de tots els telescopis.
DEDICACIÓ
Dues són les vessants principals: patrulla rutinària de Júpiter i de Saturn per a la detecció de fenòmens extraordinaris i la fotometria UBVRIuvby d'estels variables (identificació i caracterització de noves variables).
Una part important dels treballs planetaris també s'ha portat a terme des d'observatoris professionals, principalment des de l'Observatorio del Teide (IAC) i des de l'Observatoire de Pic-du-Midi (OMP), entre altres.
Entre els resultats obtinguts destaquen la detecció de varies pertorbacions a Júpiter i a Saturn i el descobriment d'un centenar d'estrelles variables.
